This collection reflects the poet’s mastery of a variety of poetic forms and meters. Included is one of his best narrative poems, “The Courtship of Miles Standish”, along with such famous works as “The Village Blacksmith,” “The Wreck of the Hesperus,” “The Children’s Hour” and “Paul Revere’s Ride.” Longfellow was a writer during the early part of the 19th century and a study of his works correlates with American history and is used in Term 1 and 2.
